Ellerbe Becket profiled in Middle East Interiors

March 18th, 2010

DUBAI – The March 2010 issue of Middle East Interiors included the article, “A Healthy Practice: The Future’s Looking Bright for Ellerbe Becket, Now Part of the World’s Largest Architecture and Engineering Firm.” The publication interviewed Randy Edwards, Ellerbe Becket’s Managing Director – Middle East, Asia + Europe. Edwards discusses the firm’s long history in the region and how joining AECOM is positively shaping its future outlook.

Says Edwards, “Together, Ellerbe Becket and AECOM are poised for expansion and leadership in new markets and geographies, especially in the Middle East.” With complementary service offerings that address the complete building lifecycle – from master planning, economics, to architecture and engineering, to operation, maintenance and post-occupancy – Ellerbe Becket and AECOM offer our existing and new clients one source solutions with global expertise and reach, combined with local knowledge.

Ellerbe Becket has a long history of work in the Middle East, beginning with the Nile Hilton Hotel in Cairo, Egypt – completed in 1960. Now operated by Four Seasons, this is a landmark property with enduring significance within the city of Cairo. Another Ellerbe Becket-designed project that has attained landmark status within the region is the Kingdom Centre, a highly recognizable mixed-use development in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The firm is also regarded as one of the top healthcare architects in the Middle East, leading the design of some of the region’s most notable healthcare facilities: University Hospital and City Hospital at Dubai Healthcare City; the expansion of American Hospital Dubai; a Private Hospital in Ras al Khaimah; and ASPETAR Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital and a large medical and research center in Doha. Two of these projects, the University Hospital and City Hospital, were honored in 2009 as recipients of prestigious Hospital Build Middle East Awards.
