MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Reconstructing the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome will exceed the standards of recent NFL stadiums and could potentially cost $100 million less than building a new NFL venue in Minnesota, according to a study released today.

The study was conducted by sports architecture firm Ellerbe Becket for the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission. Additional study findings:
- A reconstructed Metrodome satisfies the Minnesota Vikings’ program needs
- The innovative reconstruction concept preserves part of the existing Metrodome by using a sustainable mixture of existing and new stadium construction
- A reconstructed Metrodome will remain one of the busiest public facilities in the country, accommodating a steady stream of sporting and entertainment events.
- If built as conceived, the reconstructed Metrodome will be the new gold standard for NFL facilities
