ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Ellerbe Becket Design Principal Mic Johnson is one of the featured speakers at this week’s Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) North Central Conference. Johnson’s presentation is titled, “At the Edge of Community and University Development.” The interactive session will explore opportunities for integrating the often conflicting planning and design goals of colleges and universities with their surrounding communities. Attendees will develop an understanding of the benefits of the integration of community-based urban design strategies into university campus planning strategies.
Johnson has more than 25 years of professional experience and is responsible for planning, design, master planning, and furniture design for corporate, commercial, institutional and residential project types. He is well respected for his ability to work with clients in understanding and interpreting their goals and objectives and turning them into creative design solutions. His experience also includes a number of years teaching graduate level architectural design as an adjunct professor for the both the University of Oregon and University of Minnesota.
Two additional Ellerbe Becket professionals are serving as Conference Conveners this week. Project Director John Poston and Director of Business Development Shawna Allison-Leslie are assisting speakers during their presentations and facilitating SCUP sessions.
