‘Hands’On’ Healthcare Expert Joins Ellerbe Becket Dallas Office

July 11th, 2006

DALLAS, Texas – John Hollingsworth has joined Ellerbe Becket’s Dallas office as a Project Designer/Planner specializing in healthcare.

Most recently Hollingsworth has consulted for Dallas Metroplex architecture firms as a project manager and planner. He brings a unique perspective as a healthcare designer and planner who worked in clinical/facilities hospital support prior to receiving his architecture degree from New York’s Parsons School of Design.

“Understanding the role of all healthcare givers, from the administrator to the caregiver, is essential,” said Hollingsworth. Among his hospital-based experience, Hollingsworth served as Cardio Thoracic / Heart Transplant Financial Coordinator at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas in the late 1980s.

Since entering the architectural field, he has concentrated his efforts on women’s, children’s and diagnostic treatment centers. Recent projects while at other Dallas firms include the Blue Star Imaging Center (for the Dallas Cowboys), Freeman Hospital Heart Institute in Joplin, Miss.; St. Luke’s Health Systems Kirby Glen in Houston, Texas; and Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, Fla.

It was in 2003 while working at Jonathan Bailey Associates in Dallas that Hollingsworth met and worked with Travis Leissner. In 2005, Leissner joined Ellerbe Becket to establish its Dallas office and promote the firm’s healthcare offerings throughout Texas and the Southern U.S.

When Leissner recently became Project Director for a new specialty teaching hospital in Doha, Qatar, he asked Hollingsworth to join Ellerbe Becket to help sustain the momentum Leissner had begun. Leissner will remain co-located in Dallas and Doha in the near-term to provide office and project leadership.

“Our vision for John and Ellerbe Becket’s Dallas office is to develop high quality, functional architecture for the healthcare market,” said Leissner. “Using his extensive background in design, clinical operations and facilities management, John offers creative development for both the domestic and international sectors.”

An innovator since its founding in 1909, Ellerbe Becket is a leader in the architecture, engineering and construction industry with office locations worldwide.
