The Kansas City-based design director was named to Building Design & Construction magazine’s “40 Under 40” brightest stars in the AEC universe. At the same time, the Sports Business Journal named him one of the “Forty Under 40” most influential people in sports.
Niemuth leads design and planning of the firm’s collegiate and professional sports work. His ideas for using Memphis’ new NBA arena FedExForum as a vehicle to promote the city’s musical history were instrumental in allowing the Grizzlies to develop sponsored spaces on the facility’s two public concourses.
His concept for Qwest Field in Seattle makes it the only NFL stadium designed to accommodate both football and soccer. He’s currently designing a new arena for the University of Oregon, as well as numerous athletic projects for West Virginia University.
Niemuth has been with Ellerbe Becket for 10 years and was named a Principal in 2005. His academic background includes a bachelor of architectural studies and a masters degree in architecture and urban planning/urban design from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee.
