A gifted and collaborative design architect, Johnson has been associated with Ellerbe Becket for 14 of his 30 years of practice, leading design teams for some of the firm’s most notable projects. He returns to Ellerbe Becket after three years as a principal of RSP Architects in Minneapolis.

Johnson’s portfolio spans a variety of building types and has been widely honored through awards and publication. His past work with Ellerbe Becket includes Target Plaza South; 900 Nicollet mixed-use; Yonsei University Medical Center’s New Severance Hospital; Samsung Medical Center Cancer Center and at the University of Minnesota: the renovation of Coffman Memorial Union; the new Mark G. Yudof Residence Hall and the Washington Avenue Pedestrian Bridges.

Johnson is eager to build on this legacy of significant projects. “Ellerbe Becket has a long history of innovation and collaboration that benefits our clients in both the quality of buildings and the depth of service,” he said. “I am fortunate to have been involved in some of the best work of my career while at Ellerbe Becket – and look forward to continuing to serve both new and existing clients.”

A respected educator, Johnson also has spent a number of years teaching graduate-level design studios at both the University of Oregon and the University of Minnesota. He has served as a visiting design critic and lecturer at universities across the country.
