GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The region’s construction professionals have honored DeVos Place, the new riverfront convention center in Grand Rapids, Mich. The new structure on the banks of the Grand River has won an “Award of Excellence” from the Western Michigan Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors.

The 750,000 sf project connects the riverfront to downtown Grand Rapids. DeVos Place blends with the traditional architecture of Grand Rapids while looking toward the future. Materials and detailing complement the new Van Andel Arena, creating two civic building anchors at each end of downtown.

DeVos also has been cited with an “Honor Award” by the National Terrazzo & Mosaic Association. Ellerbe Becket teamed with Progressive AE of Grand Rapids on the design.
