Bracamonte Joins Ellerbe Becket San Francisco Office

January 10th, 2005

SAN FRANCISCO – Robert A. Bracamonte, AIA, has joined Ellerbe Becket as a design director in the company’s San Francisco health sciences practice. The firm is a leading healthcare designer in the U.S. and internationally.

He has extensive healthcare experience, from master planning, to medical office buildings and medical centers. His design portfolio also includes numerous advanced technology and higher education facilities.

He comes to Ellerbe Becket from HDR Architecture of Mountain View, Calif., where he was a senior vice president and design principal. He also worked for Anderson DeBartolo Pan in the company’s Tucson, Ariz., and San Francisco offices.

Bracamonte joins Ellerbe Becket at a time when the company is expanding its healthcare offering in San Francisco to service clients on the west coast. One of the country’s oldest and largest design firms, Ellerbe Becket is perhaps best known for its health sciences and wellness expertise. The firm created the world’s first private practice clinic (the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.) in 1914 and continues to enjoy a close working relationship with Mayo today. The San Francisco office complements the firm’s long-established healthcare practices in Minneapolis and Washington, D.C.

He has worked extensively for California’s Sutter Health, including the Eden Medical Center Neuroscience Center in Castro Valley and St. Luke’s Hospital in San Francisco. Additional healthcare project experience includes the University of California at San Francisco Human Genome Research Lab and the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Fremont, Calif.

Bracamonte earned a bachelor of architecture degree (with distinction) from the University of Arizona, Tucson. Jack DeBartolo Jr., FAIA, one of the pioneers of the interactive design “charrette” process, mentored him in the team design process. Bracamonte also has won numerous design awards from American Institute of Architects chapters in California and Arizona.

An innovator since its founding in 1909, Ellerbe Becket is a leader in architecture, engineering and the construction industry with office locations worldwide.
