Ellerbe Becket Wins Three ASID Awards

MINNEAPOLIS — Ellerbe Becket projects won three awards at the 1998 design competition of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).

First Place, Institutional Category

Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota’s Twin Cities campus opened its new business school this year. Designed by Ellerbe Becket, it consolidates programs into one, technologically up-to-date teaching and research facility. A second-floor executive learning center provides training and continuing education facilities for local business people.

First Place, Historical Preservation/Adaptive Use
Amtrak Consolidated National Operations Center, Wilmington, Del.

Amtrak’s new Consolidated National Operations Center turns a two-story plumbing supply warehouse into a state-of-the-art transportation operations center. The design enhances teamwork, open communication and creativity with open office plans and glass fronts on all offices. Amenities include a conference center, break rooms, exercise room and a patio.
