WASHINGTON, D.C.–Construction at Georgetown University Law Center is nearing adjournment.

The $60.7 million, 200,000 sf project at First and F Streets NW will be ready for the fall semester, according to university administrators. Construction started June 1, 2002. The university had bought the land three years earlier.

The new buildings, on F Street NW between First and Second Streets, nearly double the size of the campus.

The first, the Eric E. Hotung International Law Center Building, will gather international programs under one roof. It will also have a law library, classrooms and a Supreme Courtlike moot courtroom for mock trials.

The second building is a sport and fitness center with a pool, basketball and racquetball courts, weight room and cyber café. The project also includes a second tree-lined green.

Shepley Bulfinch Richardson and Abott was the lead architect on the project. Ellerbe Becket, the associate architect, handled the engineering work. Group Goetz and Whiting Turner were also involved in the project.

Georgetown Law Center has about 575 students.
