The team is coming off its first full season in the Ellerbe Becket-renovated Lambeau Field.
Packers President John Underwood: “We were 10th (in the league revenue ranking) for the 2003 season. We were able to hold that rank even with Chicago and Philadelphia coming on line with new stadiums.”
In Green Bay, Richard Ryman noted gate receipts were $26.5 million for the ’03 season, up 29 percent from $20.5 million in ’02 and a result of 8,000 more available seats in the renovated stadium. (Green Bay Press-Gazette, 6/19).
A Press Gazette e ditorial stated the “clear message behind the Packers’ financial report is this: What the corporation executives said would happen if the renovation was permitted to proceed has actually happened, and then some. ”
In Milwaukee, Rick Braun noted FY ’04 included “just seven months during which all facilities” in the new Lambeau Atrium were open, meaning the “future could be even brighter” (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 6/20).
