The Lambeau renovation was the most extensive facelift in the stadium’s history. Ellerbe Becket, the lead designer for the $295 million project, faced the challenge of preserving a historic NFL stadium while making it economically viable in a modern sports market.
The two-phased project expanded traditional fan amenities, improved circulation and provided increased concourse widths, restrooms and points of sale. With the new press and suite levels located above the existing structure, nine additional rows of seating were added to offer more club seating and general seating options.
“People love this stadium as much as they love this team, ” Packers President Bob Harlan told the Associated Press at the grand reopening in September 2003.
Other recent awards for the Lambeau redevelopment include being named one of the “Top Projects of the Year” by Wisconsin Builder magazine; “Project Leadership Award” from the Construction Owners Association of America; and an “Award of Merit” from Midwest Construction magazine.
The Hammes Company was the Owner Representative for the Lambeau project and Turner Construction Company served as Construction Manager.
An innovator since its founding in 1909, Ellerbe Becket is a leader in architecture, engineering and the construction industry with office locations worldwide.
