U.S. Bank Selects Ellerbe Becket For Pillsbury Center Upgrades

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – U.S. Bank has retained local design firm Ellerbe Becket to assist in its relocation of nearly 2,000 employees to the Pillsbury Center in downtown Minneapolis.

Ellerbe Becket will provide space planning, design, construction administration and move management assistance to U.S. Bank’s Corporate Real Estate Services group for approximately 232,000 useable square feet of lease space on 13 floors (at least one additional floor has been acquired for storage, staging and phasing purposes). Relocation of approximately 1,800 U.S. Bank employees is scheduled to be complete by December 2004.

General Mills, the parent company of Pillsbury, will continue to lease approximately 60,000 sf of the building, with the remainder of the Pillsbury employees moving to General Mills’ corporate campus in Golden Valley.

The new U.S. Bank space will receive interior upgrades such as new carpeting, paint and ceilings.

The 40-story building is Minneapolis’ fourth-tallest. Pillsbury had headquartered in the building since its completion in 1981. The building name is expected to change from Pillsbury Center to U.S. Bank Plaza in 2004.

Ellerbe Becket, which was founded nearly a century ago in St. Paul, offices in downtown Minneapolis in a building it designed (LaSalle Plaza). Over the years the firm has influenced the skylines of Minneapolis and St Paul, as well as cities around the globe. The firm just completed redevelopment of a three-block area of Minneapolis’ venerable Nicollet Mall, which includes the new Target headquarters, a Target store and the headquarters for US Bancorp.
