Ellerbe Becket Among World’s Largest

January 31st, 2005

World Architecture magazine’s “Top 200” survey of the world’s largest architectural practices has been released and Ellerbe Becket ranks 57th.

According to the just-released magazine, “Developers are predicting a steady as she goes 2005, but the good news for architects is that the brave face regarding most of Europe, the US and much of southeast Asia breaks into a broad smile when it regards China, Moscow, Dubai and India. While China grabs the headlines for sheer volume of work, the Middle and Far East will feature prominently in the news in 2005, as Western practices put the finishing touches to high-profile projects.”

The magazine cites leaders in various building types, and Ellerbe Becket placed in the top 10 of two important categories. The firm is ranked second worldwide in “Sports” and ninth in “Health Care.”

Ellerbe Becket’s sports practice is a world leader in multipurpose arena and stadium design. The firm’s portfolio includes the Centennial Olympic Stadium in Atlanta, Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix, and renovations of American icons Madison Square Garden in New York, Notre Dame Football Stadium in South Bend, Ind., and Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis.

Ellerbe Becket has been a pioneer in healthcare since designing the first group practice clinic in 1912. The firm has completed new facilities and renovations for hundreds of hospitals, academic medical centers and medical group practice clinics around the world, including the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., Northwestern Medical Center in Chicago and Khalifa Orthopedic Sports Medicine Hospital in Qatar.

An innovator since its founding in 1909, Ellerbe Becket is a leader in architecture, engineering and the construction industry with office locations worldwide.
