Ellerbe Becket Names New Associates

MINNEAPOLIS —Ellerbe Becket, a global leader in design and construction, has named new associates for 2003. “Associates represent the firm’s emerging leaders and technical or professional experts,” said Ellerbe Becket CEO Rick Lincicome.

New associates, listed alphabetically, are as follows:

John Albers, AIA, has been an architect and project manager for the past three years in Minneapolis. His current projects include the medical office building at Bozeman Deaconess Health Services in Bozeman, Mont. and the DeBakey Heart Institute at Hays Medical Center.

Art Asgian, PE, is a construction administrator who has worked in the firm’s Kansas City office for two years, as well as in the mid-1990s as an on-site field representative. His current projects include the FedExForum in Memphis, Tenn., and Seahawks Stadium in Seattle, Wash.

Roland Binker, AIA, is an architect and senior medical planner in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office. Current projects include the VA Medical Center-Chicago and Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Va. He has been with Ellerbe Becket for over five years in addition to working for Ellerbe in the 1970s.

Shari Bjork has been a project manager/designer in the firm’s Minneapolis interiors group for three years. Current projects include the Gray Plant Mooty law firm offices in Minneapolis and the new Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City, Mo. She is a member of the International Facilities Management Association.

Gregory Chang, AIA, is an architect and senior medical planner who has been with Ellerbe Becket’s Washington, D.C., office for five years. He has been involved in international projects such as the Samsung Medical Center in Seoul, Korea the American Hospital in Dubai, UAE; and Khalifa Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center in Doha, Qatar.

Since joining the Minneapolis office five years ago, Shawn Gaither, AIA, has worked for some of Minneapolis’ leading companies and educational institutions. He served as senior project designer on corporate headquarters projects for PepsiAmericas and the Metris Companies, and the renovation of the University of Minnesota’s historic Coffman Memorial Union.

Barbara Hoppas, PE, is an electrical engineer in Kansas City and works on several stadiums and arenas currently in design, including FedExForum in Memphis, Tenn., DeVos Fieldhouse in Hope, Mich., and the new Charlotte Arena. She is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America. She has been with Ellerbe Becket four years.

In addition to being named an associate, Jon Niemuth, AIA, was just promoted to Project Designer III in the Kansas City office. In eight years with the firm he has worked as a designer on major sports venues. He currently serves as lead designer on the FedEx Forum, future home of the NBA Memphis Grizzlies.

Kimberly Pierson, PE, is a mechanical project engineer who has been with Ellerbe Becket’s Minneapolis office for seven years. Her recent project experience includes the Mayo Gonda Building in Rochester, Minn.; the Sioux Valley Hospital Cancer Center in Sioux Valley, S.D.; and current work on the VA Medical Center in Chicago. She is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers.

Jim Pricco, AIA, has been an architect and senior project manager in San Francisco for over three years. Current projects include the Multi-Use Stadium at the University of California at Davis. He is licensed in the State of California.

John Rode, AIA, has been with the Minneapolis office for four years as an architect and vice president of business development. He is currently leading a series of web-based presentations for clients and prospects on cancer centers. He is a member of the Society for Marketing Professional Services and the Medical Group Management Association.
