Ellerbe Becket Sports Advertising Campaign Wins National Marketing Communications Award

The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), a national marketing association serving the architecture, engineering and construction industry, has awarded Ellerbe Becket's sports advertising campaign a 2003 Marketing Communications Award to be presented at an awards gala celebrating achievements in industry leadership and excellence in marketing communications. The gala will be held in conjunction with the 2003 SMPS/PSMA National Conference, "The Next Wave", on August 13-16 in Phoenix, Ariz.

The campaign, created by Ellerbe Becket’s in-house environmental graphics and marketing staffs, capitalizes on anecdotal stories gleaned from two decades of sports facility design. “For 15 years we’ve been designing structures that sell tickets and foster exciting new traditions,” says Dave Orlowski, managing principal of Ellerbe Becket’s sports practice. “Along the way, we’ve learned some valuable lessons that are reflected in this campaign.”

The ads have run in publications such as Stadia, Sports Business Journal and Seat magazine. Additional campaign components, including direct mail and posters, were added to the marketing mix to reach prospective customers and stimulate additional creativity internally.
