The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City Announces Its Selection for the Design of the Bank’s New Headquarters
The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City has officially announced that the team of Pei Cobb Freed and Ellerbe Becket will design the bank's new headquarters. The Fed, wanting a 15-acre site for its estimated 600,000-square-foot headquarters, narrowed its site selection to two choices, a hotly debated topic among city leaders. "They (the two sites) are both exciting and present different opportunities and challenges," said Managing Principal Dave Orlowski in the May 15
Kansas City Star. "They both have a different sense of citizenship and responsibility," he said. "We feel the responsibility inherent with the design of this building. We're thrilled to be part of the bank's design team."
