WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Comcast Center, located on the University of Maryland College Park campus, has received several 2003 Craftsmanship Awards from the
Washington Building Congress. The Washington Building Congress recognizes the superior skills of craftsmen through the Craftsmanship Awards Program, an annual celebration of excellent work performed in the greater Washington region. Comcast Center received the following awards, submitted by Mona Electric Group and Manganaro Corporation:
- Electrical: Power Generation, Distribution and Switchgear
- Electrical: Lighting Systems
- Electrical: Special Systems (including security, control & instrumentation)
- Masonry: Unit Masonry
The reigning NCAA basketball champion Terrapins moved into their new facility in the fall of 2002. The arena also houses media relations, the team store, practice gyms, sports training facilities and an academic/career development center.
