Study Completed on Illinois’ Famed Assembly Hall

September 13th, 2002

Assembly Hall at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign could see more than $60 million in improvements and additions during the next few years if the university follows recommendations in a recently released study. The Ellerbe Becket study evaluates the feasibility of modernizing the 39-year-old Assembly Hall in line with standards set by newer multi-use and basketball facilities.

In recent years the firm has renovated UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center and the Haas Pavilion at the University of California at Berkeley. New Ellerbe Becket-designed arenas will open at the University of Maryland (Comcast Center) later this year and at the University of Miami (Fla.) in early 2003.
