Ellerbe Becket Principal To Support Western Region

September 14th, 1998

SAN FRANCISCO — Ellerbe Becket, one of the country’s leading architecture, engineering and construction firms, is moving William Crockett to the Bay Area to support the company’s western region offices. Crockett will be leading the San Francisco office and supporting the firm’s operations in Los Angeles and Seattle.

“Ellerbe Becket’s West Coast presence is growing, and with design and construction volume in the west expected to rise over the next five years, our clients and the firm will benefit from Bill’s business acumen and management skills,” said Ellerbe Becket CEO Bob Degenhardt. Crockett has been a principal in Ellerbe Becket’s Kansas City office for the last four years.

“We’re going to employ our own version of the ‘West Coast offense,’” said Crockett. In San Francisco he will manage day-to-day operations while DiPaolo will serve as design principal and head the marketing efforts. “We see it as a partnership between design and management,” said DiPaolo. “We believe that the balance Bill and I offer is what our clients are looking for.”

Crockett’s retail/entertainment and sports experience will benefit projects underway in the Los Angeles and San Francisco offices, and he will play an instrumental role in establishing the firm’s new office in Seattle. Ellerbe Becket’s competition-winning design for the Seattle Seahawks’ new stadium — the Seattle Football/Soccer Stadium & Exhibition Center — is under construction.

Crockett’s project experience also includes the Daytona International Speedway expansion and master plan; Conseco Fieldhouse, future home of the National Basketball Association Indiana Pacers; and the Rose Garden, home of the NBA Portland Trailblazers.

He received his bachelor of architecture degree in 1978 from Tulane University in New Orleans. He is affiliated with the American Institute of Architects and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

An innovator since its founding in 1909, Ellerbe Becket provides integrated architecture, engineering and construction services from 11 office locations worldwide. Ellerbe Becket currently is ranked the country’s second largest architecture and engineering firm by Building Design & Construction.
