City Public Service of San Antonio came to Ellerbe Becket with the need to establish a 24×7 primary facility, meeting evolving high-technology requirements for transmission and distribution of electric and gas systems throughout San Antonio. The facility, like all control centers, must be functional, efficient, reliable, secure and adaptable. In addition, the control center must be comfortable and provide employees with the facilities and amenities they need to fulfill their job.

Sustainable Design
• Photovoltaic system designed to power the lighting of the new Training Center, harvesting of rainwater and cooling tower "blow down" for irrigation.

• Education Wall included in the Training Center; will show metering of the solar power that is generated by the photovoltaic system, the rainwater/blow down water that is collected and utilized, as well as other sustainable aspects of the building such as green finishes and individual temperature controls.
