Metris Companies Corporate Headquarters

Ellerbe Becket provided full interior design services for this 305,000 square foot headquarters facility. In addition to high-end aesthetic preferences, extremely fast corporate growth was a driver in the decision to provide numerous amenities to attract and retain employees.

The general office area encompassed approximately 200,000 square feet of mostly open-plan layout; one 30,000 square foot floor was dedicated to a call center. The executive floor featured a technologically-enhanced boardroom, an executive dining room, a private exercise area, and access from the CEO’s office to an outdoor patio with a view of the Minneapolis skyline.

Ellerbe Becket designed Metris’ corporate cafeteria to have the look and feel of an upscale dining establishment. Another amenity, the employee fitness center, provided cardiovascular and free-weight equipment. Finally, a 5,000 square foot daycare center was included so as to ease some of the logistical challenges facing working parents.
