Centennial Olympic Stadium

Atlanta, Georgia, USA

The Atlanta Stadium Design Team (ASDT) designed the stadium for the 1996 Summer Olympics, setting a precedent for future special event facilities. The team developed architectural and construction techniques for converting the venue to other uses once the event was over. In the case of this stadium, the ASDT turned the track-and-field venue into a 50,000-seat baseball stadium for the Atlanta Braves by opening day of the 1997 season.

The ASDT comprised Ellerbe Becket, Heery International, Rosser Fabrap International and Williams Russell & Johnson Inc.
