New Orlando Veterans Affairs Medical Center

Orlando, Florida USA

A joint venture team of Ellerbe Becket and RLF, Inc. was selected to design a new medical campus in Orlando for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The project includes 1.2 million square feet of space and associated site work and parking.

The new VA Medical Center will provide a full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient services to veterans in Central Florida, where there is an increasing demand for primary and specialty care, and a need for acute care beds. The joint venture team is collaborating on the following components of the VA Orlando Medical Center:

  • Nursing homes
  • Inpatient diagnostic and treatment hospital with two inpatient towers (134 beds) and an E.D.
  • Outpatient clinic (600,000 sf)
  • Physical plant
  • Domiciliary
  • Structured parking (1,800 spaces)

The decision to begin design is a result of VA’s CARES Program, a planning process to ensure that veterans’ future needs for accessible, quality healthcare are met, and to align capital assets to meet those needs.
