Ellerbe Becket, in association with Progressive AE of Grand Rapids, Michigan, provided architectural, interior design and engineering services for a new transmission operations center for this confidential client.
The 37,000 square foot Transmission Operations Center, located in the upper Midwest, houses the primary Control Room which monitors and controls the company’s transmission assets with offices for support personnel. The building is structured to withstand an F-4 tornado. Electrical and mechanical systems are be designed for reliability and redundancy to assure continuous operation despite weather or human-driven disasters and to allow for planned maintenance.
