Mercy Medical Center selected Ellerbe Becket to design a new replacement hospital in the heart of downtown Baltimore. The 17-story, 700,000 gross-square-foot building replaces all of the clinical functions that Mercy Medical Center currently performs in its aging existing facilities.
Mercy will phase the relocation of its clinical services over the next decade, and the building is being designed to provide the flexibility needed to accommodate this phased relocation approach. The new tower will be connected to a new parking garage and to the existing medical center facilities by a series of bridges and tunnels to facilitate both public and material/staff transportation.
Our replacement tower project is another step forward in the implementation of Mercy’s strategic plans for the entire campus.
