Mary Washington Hospital, experiencing rapid growth in the greater Washington, D.C. area, retained the Ellerbe Becket team to perform an assessment of the existing physical plant, its potential for expansion, the current conditions of its systems and its ongoing use for patient care functions.
The resulting project was a five-story, 100-bed inpatient tower consisting of 20 ICU beds, 20 post-partum beds and 60 acute care beds. A consolidated main entrance and expanded lobby also were part of the project, as well as expanded registration areas, retail amenities and support spaces.
