Stafford Hospital

To meet market demands, Mary Washington Healthcare (formerly MediCorp Health System) partnered with Ellerbe Becket to fast track completion of this new greenfield hospital. Anchored by Virginia’s first new hospital to open in more than 30 years, the new 100-bed Stafford Hospital addresses the high demand for a full-service hospital in fast-growing Stafford County.

Constructed on a 65-acre greenfield site, the 250,000-square-foot hospital includes 100 inpatient beds supported by diagnostic and treatment facilities; emergency department; cardiopulmonary services, and imaging and surgery. Additionally, the campus includes a 60,000-square-foot medical office building designed by Ellerbe Becket in collaboration with a developer.

A key goal in the design of the hospital was to develop a highly efficient campus with room to grow in the future. The combination of a patient- and family-centered design, an emphasis on safety, technology and ample connections to the natural beauty of the site make the new Stafford Hospital a true asset to its community.
