When the city decided to expand and renovate Grand Center, it had specific goals for an already thriving downtown:
- Expand the meeting and event capabilities of Grand Center
- Create a district that celebrates the Grand River
The landmark building now contains an exhibit hall, ballroom and meeting rooms, all of which can be subdivided according to an event’s needs. A three-story, glass-enclosed gallery is a functional space in its own right. Wrapping around the DeVos performance hall to the ballroom, it meets the renovated Art Deco lobby of the Welsh Auditorium.
